OUR STORY

Poinciana Public Relations (Poinciana PR) was launched in 2022 and is a leading communications, public relations, and publication design firm dedicated to redefining Bahamian storytelling. With a focus on world-class creative concept development, content creation, and design, we bring compelling narratives to life, amplifying the voices of The Bahamas. Our work transforms ideas into high-impact publications and engaging campaigns that inform, inspire, and captivate audiences.

 

From concept to execution, we have successfully developed and produced publications that showcase the best of Bahamian culture, history, and business. We have created internationally distributed magazines, travel guides, corporate blogs, and Poinciana Magazine, a thriving digital platform dedicated to Caribbean storytelling. In addition, we provide strategic public relations and communications services, working with esteemed clients such as the Grand Bahama Island Promotion Board, Forbes Charter, NACAC, Azulify, Ivory Global Management, and more.

 

Poinciana PR has successfully created and led a variety of high-profile projects and major campaigns. Notably, the company served as the rebranding lead for the Grand Bahama Island Promotion Board, redesigning its logo and developing new visual branding guidelines. Poinciana PR also conceptualized, designed, and developed Grand Life Magazine, the official magazine of Grand Bahama Island, which currently reaches over 1 million readers each issue, overseeing all aspects from content creation to print. The firm also played a key role in developing the Grand Bahama Island Restaurant Fest, handling the concept, branding, and creative direction of the annual event. These projects highlight Poinciana PR’s expertise in bringing impactful ideas to life with creative vision and strategic execution.

 

Beyond our creative and strategic work, Poinciana PR is deeply committed to community engagement and youth development. In 2024, we launched an annual blood drive, which will return in June 2025, and have awarded several book allowance awards to help nurture the next generation of storytellers.

 

Founded by Nikia Wells, a Grand Bahama native and experienced communications professional, Poinciana PR continues to grow as a leader in Caribbean media. Looking ahead, we are poised to expand our reach, develop new partnerships, and further push the boundaries of storytelling, publication design, and digital engagement. With innovation at our core, we are dedicated to shaping the future of Bahamian communications—one story at a time.

MEET NIKIA WELLS

Nikia Wells is the Founder and Managing Director of Poinciana Public Relations, a leading communications and publication design firm dedicated to amplifying Bahamian voices and stories. A native of Grand Bahama, Nikia has always had a deep passion for storytelling. Her love for writing and sharing the narratives of others naturally led her to pursue a career in public relations, communications, and writing, where she has consistently made her mark across various industries.

 

After earning a graduate degree in Strategic Public Relations from George Washington University, Nikia’s career flourished. She began her professional journey with notable organizations like the Grand Lucayan Resort and the Bahamas Telecommunications Company Ltd. (BTC), where she honed her skills in media relations and corporate communications. Her expertise continued to grow when she joined the Caribbean Bottling Company (Coca-Cola Bahamas), where she served as Communications Marketing Manager. She also held this role for the company’s sister brand, Caribbean Wines and Spirits. In these roles, Nikia took on diverse responsibilities, including graphic design and managing communications strategies, as well as executive producing The Sip, a television show sponsored by CWS that aired nationally on ILTV.

 

Beyond her corporate work, Nikia has always nurtured a love for exploration, entertainment, and the culinary world. In 2014, she launched Pinksands 242, a passion project where she blends her interests in writing and travel. As a freelance writer, her work has been featured in several respected publications, including Up & Away, the in-flight magazine for Bahamasair, and other platforms.

 

With a clear vision and dedication to reshaping Caribbean communications, Nikia Wells continues to lead Poinciana Public Relations in its mission to tell compelling stories that reflect the rich culture and diversity of The Bahamas and the broader Caribbean region.
